The Noble Superior Court, Division 2 is a court of general jurisdiction and has concurrent jurisdiction with the Noble Circuit Court. By local rule, the following types of cases are generally filed in Superior Court, Div 2:

  • Criminal Cases
    • Misdemeanors - crimes involving punishment of one year or less
    • Drug Court cases
  • Civil Cases
    • CHINS (Child in Need of Services)
    • Small Calims
    • Traffic infractions
    • Ordinance violations

In calendar year 2006, a total of 10,012 cases were filed in Noble Superior Court, Div. 2. Of those 1,421 were criminal cases, 6693 were traffic infractions ordinance violations, 1,778 were small claims, 100 were CHINS, and 16 were other civil cases. This represented the most cases ever filed. Despite the record number of new cases, the court was able to dispose of even more cases than were filed, with 10,197 case being closed. Those numbers do not include the filings of probation violation reports.

In 2006 for the court we collected $1,491.550.00. Of that amount $785,834.16 was paid to the State of Indiana, $685,132.81 to Noble County, and $20,583.13 to cities and towns in Noble County. That also represented a record for the largest amount collected.
